Tips to Survive your First Visit to A Casino

If you are planning on going to a casino for the first time ever, there are a few things that you will need to know about what you can and can’t do and what you should and shouldn’t wear. Navigating the casino world as a newbie can be very daunting but it doesn’t have to be if you do your research first. If you are not sure on visiting a casino you may want to go just to soak up the atmosphere rather than play the casino games.

Walk Around …

Take your time to familiarise yourself with the casino by walking around a few times to see what is where and always check out where the following are located:

  • The toilets
  • The bar and restaurant
  • Different tables and games
  • Where to change your money into chips

The more you explore a room before you begin playing, the more comfortable you will feel when you finally sit down to play a game.

Decide on a Game …

Once you have worked out what is where and who is playing what, you will need to decide which game you want to play. You may already know what game you want to play before you get to the casino or something might take your fancy after you wander around and you can even speak to a floor manager or a dealer who isn’t too busy for some advice about which game might suit you the best.

Head to the Cage …

One of the first things that you will need to do is change your money into chips, so that you can begin playing. This is done in an area often known as the “cage” and while some casinos will allow you to play games with cash paid to the dealer, it is far quicker and easier to change your money into chips at the cage first.

Read the House Rules …

If it is busy, you might have to sign onto a waiting list to get into a game and this means that you will have some spare time on your hands to do the following:

  • Check out the house rules, as these will vary
  • Ease into the experience by playing a few slot machine games first rather than going directly to the poker table
  • Don’t immediately bet big, as you should take your time to ease yourself into the games

Visiting a casino for the first time can be a really fun experience and one thing that you will always have to do before you head to the tables is check out the dress code, so that you know whether you need to swap your jeans for a nice dress or suit.
